Mathematical models of self-organization
Pierre DEGOND
Imperial College, London
Self-organization happens when agents interacting through local rules generate large-scale coherent structures. It occurs across all living and social systems and through a formidable variety of mechanisms. However, common features among the different systems suggest that some 'universal' models may provide valuable insight. In this talk, I will discuss models of aligment dynamics of self-propelled particles and highlight the challenges that they pose.
